About Carthage Gap
Originally built and owned by Richard and 'Franki' Craig around 1968 - 1972, Carthage Gap Campground sits on 31.48 acres atop a rolling hill with two spring fed ponds in South East Ohio. The locals know us by "Craig's Lake," the spot to go fishing. In 1991 the campground was sold to Floyd and Nina McDermott. They spent 20 years updating and expanding the amount of sites in the campground. Carthage Gap then became a second-generation, family owned and operated, business in 2011 when we, Chris and Teresa Adams, took ownership.
Carthage Gap Campground is located conveniently in-between Athens and Belpre, Ohio; allowing travelers to get a taste of Appalachia without being too far away from urban conveniences. After 11 more years of improvements, Carthage Gap now offers 135 sites with full hook ups, free Wi-Fi, planned activities, fishing, swimming, and much more.
Our goal is to provide our campers a safe and family friendly environment for those who love the outdoors, spending time with family and friends around the fire.
